About the Opportunity:
Omya, a globally renowned producer of industrial minerals and specialty chemicals, is hiring a Process Engineer for its Sylacauga, AL plant — home to one of the world’s largest marble deposits. This onsite role offers the opportunity to work on capital projects and optimize industrial processes for a leading manufacturer in a high-impact, hands-on environment. Position Details:
- Title: Process Engineer
- Location: Sylacauga, AL (Greater Birmingham Metro)
- Status: Full-Time | Onsite
Key Responsibilities:
- Design process flow sheets and develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
- Review and oversee process designs and project objectives with engineering and automation teams
- Create operating, startup, and shutdown procedures for new and existing equipment
- Troubleshoot and improve existing production equipment and control systems
- Support the evaluation and integration of new process equipment and technologies
- Prepare internal and external presentations for management, customers, and training teams
- Support sales teams and provide input for quoting and project scoping
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience in mining, rock crushing, or materials handling preferred
- Strong knowledge of process improvement methodologies and industrial controls
- Excellent communication and documentation skills

Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $85,000–$115,000 (based on experience)
