Switchgear Technician – Memphis, TN – Up to $50/hr + Overtime – Company Vehicle Provided

About the Opportunity:

A leading NETA-accredited electrical testing and maintenance firm is seeking an experienced Switchgear Technician to join their growing team in the Greater Memphis area. This is a hands-on field role covering Memphis, Eastern Arkansas, and Northern Mississippi, with rare overnight travel and consistent overtime opportunities.

Position Overview:

• Title: Switchgear Technician
• Location: Memphis, TN (Must reside in or near Memphis)
• Hourly Rate: $35.00 – $50.00/hr (DOE)
• Bonus: Discretionary
• Overtime: Regular (20–30 hours weekly common)

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair low, medium, and high voltage switchgear equipment
• Perform testing, inspection, and commissioning of switchgear systems
• Troubleshoot components including circuit breakers, relays, and transformers
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems
• Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
• Use diagnostic tools like multimeters and insulation resistance testers
• Ensure all work complies with applicable safety standards
• Document inspection results, repairs, and upgrades accurately
• Support system retrofits and modernization of aging switchgear

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Switchgear Technician or in a similar electrical role
• Strong understanding of power distribution and protection systems
• Comfortable working independently across job sites with field equipment
• Excellent troubleshooting, safety awareness, and documentation skills

Compensation & Benefits:
