NETA Field Service Technician (Level II–IV) – Houston, TX – Up to $85/hr + Sign-On Bonus – 50% Travel & Company Vehicle
A leading power management and electrical testing provider is seeking an experienced
NETA Field Service Technician (Level II, III, or IV) to support commercial and industrial customers
throughout the greater Houston area. This role focuses on testing, maintaining, and commissioning low, medium, and high voltage
power distribution equipment under NETA standards.
Position:
- Title: NETA Field Service Technician (Level II, III, or IV)
- Location: Greater Houston, TX (South/East Region)
- Travel Radius: Typically 2–4 hours from Houston, approx. 50% travel
Compensation:
- Level II: $35.00 – $50.00/hr (negotiable)
- Level III/IV: $55.00 – $85.00/hr (negotiable)
- Sign-On Bonus – Level II: ~ $14,000 (negotiable)
- First paycheck: $3,500
- First paycheck of second year: $3,500
- Remaining amount paid out through year three
- Sign-On Bonus – Level III/IV: ~$20,000 – $40,000 (negotiable)
- First paycheck: $5,000 (or more, negotiable)
- First paycheck of second year: $5,000 (or more, negotiable)
- Remaining amount paid out through year three
- Overtime: Available; 8–12 hours at 1.5x, 12+ hours at 2x (45–50 hour weeks are common)
Schedule & Travel:
- Approx. 50% travel to customer sites in the greater South/East Houston area
- Per Diem: $70/day for travel days
- Remote Flexibility: Increased flexibility for NETA III and above (can be discussed with management)

About the Role:
The NETA Field Service Technician will perform testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of
power distribution systems for a wide range of commercial and industrial clients. Work is performed to
NETA and industry standards to ensure system safety, reliability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform testing and maintenance on low, medium, and high voltage power distribution equipment
- Test and calibrate instrument transformers and associated electrical equipment
- Conduct testing on power transformers, including Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR) assessments
- Execute cable testing procedures to verify system integrity and reliability
- Provide primary and secondary injection testing for protection system verification
- Test and maintain circuit breakers and switchgear across LV, MV, and HV systems
- Perform comprehensive testing of protective relays to confirm proper system protection
- Troubleshoot, inspect, and commission electrical systems including:
- Switchgear and circuit breakers
- Transformers and cables
- Protective relays, VFDs, and automatic transfer switches (ATS)
- Perform field service and repair tasks including diagnostics, parts replacement, and recommissioning
- Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and NETA / NEC / NESC standards
- Complete all required testing and service documentation, forms, and reports accurately and on time
Ideal Qualifications:
- Experience as a NETA Field Service Technician (Level II, III, or IV) or similar high-voltage testing role
- Active NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV) – candidates who just became NETA II should have several years of experience
- Open to NETA IV technicians without an active license and NICET Power Testing certifications
- Strong background in field testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning power distribution equipment
- Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and plan/section views
- Comfort working independently with minimal supervision
- Strong safety mindset and commitment to following high-voltage safety procedures
