A leading commercial HVAC and building systems engineering firm is seeking an experienced
Sr. / Lead Mechanical Engineer (PE) to drive the mechanical design of HVAC systems for complex retrofit and modernization projects.
This position plays a key role in improving building performance through system upgrades, design optimization, and integration with advanced controls.
This is a high-impact engineering role within a tight-knit team, offering a hybrid schedule
(3 days in office / 2 days remote) after an initial onboarding period.

About the Opportunity:
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will develop stamped mechanical designs for commercial HVAC retrofit projects,
conduct system assessments, support energy optimization initiatives, and collaborate with internal teams across automation, controls, and construction.
This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who enjoys hands-on design, customer-facing interaction, and leading technical project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop stamped mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications for HVAC retrofit projects
- Conduct on-site assessments and analyze existing systems to inform design decisions
- Perform heating/cooling load calculations and equipment selection
- Design and size HVAC ductwork and piping systems
- Coordinate mechanical designs with automation, structural, and electrical teams
- Lead and mentor engineering staff assigned to projects
- Conduct technical audits of building systems and recommend performance improvements
- Collaborate with energy engineers on modeling, audits, and savings calculations
- Support sales and business development through client meetings and technical presentations
- Prepare documentation using AutoCAD and Revit MEP
Ideal Candidate:
- Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE)
- Extensive background in commercial HVAC design, retrofit, and building systems
- Experience with controls optimization, energy management, or building operations
- Strong leadership skills and ability to guide engineering staff
- Highly proficient in AutoCAD and Revit MEP
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
