A fully integrated electrical power system services provider is seeking a skilled Relay Technician to join their growing field services team in Omaha, NE. This role focuses on testing, commissioning, calibrating, and maintaining protective relays and related systems across substations, power plants, and industrial environments.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with both electromechanical and microprocessor-based relays, a strong understanding of NETA/IEEE/NFPA standards, and the ability to work independently in the field. Approximately 50% local travel is required, and a company truck is provided.

Role Overview
This position involves high-voltage relay testing and substation maintenance across a diverse project portfolio in the renewable energy, utility, and industrial sectors. The technician will work directly with engineers, field teams, and client contractors to ensure protective systems are properly commissioned and maintained.
Responsibilities include:
- Installing, testing, commissioning, and maintaining protective relay systems
- Working with DFRs, SCADA systems, and communication infrastructure
- Conducting functional testing of substation circuits and relay panels
- Using Doble ProTesT for end-to-end relay verification and fiber optic testing
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and one-lines
- Collaborating with engineers to resolve technical field challenges
- Overseeing on-site testing activities and ensuring customer satisfaction
- Documenting all test procedures and results thoroughly
- Upholding safety protocols on every site
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Relay Technician or similar role
- Proficiency with electromechanical and digital relays
- Understanding of NETA, IEEE, and NFPA standards
- Ability to manage project logistics and client communication
- Comfortable with 50% local travel
- NETA II or higher certification preferred
