Mechanical Estimator – Pre-Construction – Tucson, AZ – Up to $115K + Bonus – Leading Mechanical Contractor

About the Opportunity:

A top mechanical contracting firm is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their Tucson-based pre-construction team. This role is key to supporting HVAC and piping system estimating efforts across education, healthcare, government, and industrial projects throughout Arizona. With a focus on design-build and retrofit work, the estimator will play a critical role in developing accurate, competitive proposals while collaborating closely with project managers and sales.

Position Details:

• Title: Mechanical Estimator (Pre-Construction)
• Location: Tucson, AZ
• Department: Pre-Construction / Estimating
• Travel: Local job site visits as needed

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary: $70,000 – $95,000 (Mid-Level); $95,000 – $115,000 (Sr. Level)
• Bonus: 10% Annual Bonus
• Relocation: Available for qualified, out-of-state industry professionals

Key Responsibilities:

• Estimate HVAC and piping systems for commercial and institutional projects
• Develop proposals for plan/spec, design-build, and retrofit projects
• Perform digital take-offs using FastDUCT, FastPIPE, and Bluebeam
• Review drawings, specifications, and field conditions for accurate bids
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor/supplier pricing
• Attend pre-bid site walks and evaluate project scope
• Collaborate with internal departments to develop cost-effective solutions
• Contribute to sales and pre-construction meetings with technical insights
• Maintain strong relationships with vendors, clients, and design professionals
• Utilize historical data and industry knowledge to improve bid accuracy
• Stay current on code updates, new technologies, and procurement trends

Ideal Candidate:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in HVAC or piping systems
• Strong understanding of labor/material pricing and digital take-off tools
• Background in design-build or retrofit environments preferred
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly with both internal and external stakeholders
