As an Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer – Pole Fielder, you’ll play a crucial role in our mission to expand and enhance our network services.
About the role
- We are seeking a detail-oriented Outside Plant Engineer – Pole Fielder to perform field surveys, collect data, and support the design of telecommunications networks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of utility poles, cable routes, and the standards for aerial and underground plant construction.
What you'll do
- Conduct detailed field surveys to assess utility pole conditions, pole attachments, and cable routes.
- Measure, photograph, and document pole data, including heights, clearances, and attachments.
- Collaborate with design teams to develop efficient and cost-effective plans for network deployment.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (NESC, NEC) and local regulations for pole attachments and construction.
- Use tools such as GPS, GIS systems, and mapping software to capture and report field data.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project timelines and objectives are met.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or engineering degree preferred.
- This is meant to be an entry level position into OSP engineering, pole fielding, or related telecommunications work.
- Knowledge of NESC, NEC, and telecommunications construction standards.
- Familiarity with GIS/mapping tools and field data collection techniques.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and environments.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
