About the roleWe are seeking a detail-oriented Outside Plant Engineer – Pole Fielder to perform field surveys, collect data, and support the design of telecommunications networks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of utility poles, cable routes, and the standards for aerial and underground plant construction.
What you'll doConduct detailed field surveys to assess utility pole conditions, pole attachments, and cable routes.Measure, photograph, and document pole data, including heights, clearances, and attachments.Collaborate with design teams to develop efficient and cost-effective plans for network deployment.Ensure compliance with industry standards (NESC, NEC) and local regulations for pole attachments and construction.Use tools such as GPS, GIS systems, and mapping software to capture and report field data.Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project timelines and objectives are met.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical or engineering degree preferred.This is meant to be an entry level position into OSP engineering, pole fielding, or related telecommunications work.Knowledge of NESC, NEC, and telecommunications construction standards.Familiarity with GIS/mapping tools and field data collection techniques.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and environments.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
