Under close supervision of the Supervisor, Technical Services, performs system mapping and data maintenance of public water facilities within an Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) environment.
- Performs enterprise GIS system mapping and data maintenance by:
- Updating and maintaining water system maps utilizing the most recent version of
ESRI software suite. - Creating new water system features by Georeferencing approved project planning
data in GIS (digital data or raster data). - Updating and maintaining databases related to objects on the system maps.
- Conducting “cleanup” of records data (spatial, tabular, and unstructured).
- Creating “as-built” drawings of existing water main valve locations.
- Compiling information and preparing water system and pressure zone maps.
- Performs other department related activities by:
- Preparing estimates, visual aids, charts, and graphics for various presentations.
- Performing records research to support special studies or analysis.
- Support GPS data collection and processing activities as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- Graduation from high school or GED including or supplemented by courses in GIS, surveying, and technical mathematics used in civil engineering and a minimum of one year related experience in the mapping of linear utilities or other features, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and knowledge.
- Basic familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS Pro software.
- Demonstrate knowledge of ESRI Software Suite, ArcGIS Desktop interface, ArcSDE versioning workflows, edits spatial and tabular data, querying geospatial and tabular data within ArcMap, GIS tools (i.e. custom, Data Reviewer) or related tables/joins to adhere to business process and database standards.
- Knowledge of civil engineering drafting methods, principles, and practices.
- Knowledge of personal computers with emphasis on Microsoft applications.
- Ability to perform engineering and drafting computations and tasks and apply them within the Enterprise GIS environment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Must pass a controlled substance (drug) test for employment.
