Clearance Requirement: Active DoD Secret Clearance About the RoleA leading defense technology organization is seeking an Advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Software Engineer
to support undersea sensor and submarine-focused programs. This role involves designing and implementing high-performance DSP algorithms for complex, mission-critical systems. Candidates with experience supporting Navy or submarine programs are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and optimize DSP algorithms and software solutions for undersea sensor applicationsCollaborate with cross-functional hardware and software engineering teams to integrate DSP solutions into embedded systemsConduct performance analysis and optimization to ensure reliable operation in challenging undersea environmentsDevelop and maintain technical documentation for DSP algorithms, software, and systemsParticipate in design reviews, code reviews, and testing to ensure high-quality deliverablesTroubleshoot and resolve DSP software and system-level issuesProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineersStay current with advancements in DSP technologies and undersea sensor applications
QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related STEM fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in DSP software development (or Masters degree with 3+ years of experience)Active DoD Secret security clearanceStrong proficiency in C/C++ programmingHands-on experience with DSP algorithm development and optimizationExperience using MATLAB or similar tools for algorithm development and simulationSolid understanding of signal processing theory and techniquesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred QualificationsExperience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software developmentBackground supporting submarine, sonar, or surface ship systemsKnowledge of underwater acoustics and sonar signal processingFamiliarity with DSP hardware platforms and architecturesExposure to machine learning or AI techniques applied to signal processingExperience with oceanographic data analysis or modeling
