About the Opportunity
A large, publicly traded organization operating in mission-critical construction and engineering
environments is seeking a Project Executive with a strong mechanical engineering and HVAC
construction background to join its San Jose leadership team.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for owning projects end-to-end—from sales and
preconstruction through execution and closeout—while leading high-performing teams and maintaining
long-term client relationships across complex, high-value projects.
Position Overview
The Project Executive provides strategic and operational leadership across mechanical construction
projects, serving as the primary owner for project success. This role drives business development,
oversees financial performance, manages risk, and leads cross-functional teams to deliver projects on
time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects from sales inception and preconstruction through execution and closeout
- Drive new business through estimating, proposal development, contract review, and project closeout
- Oversee mechanical/HVAC projects ranging from $50K to $25M+ in value
- Provide direct leadership to project engineers, coordinators, superintendents, and field leadership
- Own project budgets, cost control, change management, and financial forecasting
- Manage contracts, assess risk, and proactively resolve project issues
- Lead client, vendor, and subcontractor relationships
- Run preconstruction meetings, executive project reviews, and key stakeholder meetings
- Ensure consistent documentation, quality standards, and project controls
Ideal Candidate
- 10+ years of experience estimating, designing, and managing mechanical/HVAC construction projects
- Proven ability to lead large, complex projects across the full lifecycle
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management
- Excellent contract, negotiation, and risk management skills
- Strong client-facing leadership and communication abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus
